Benefits
- Reduced Inflammation and Pain relief
Electric cryotherapy helps to decrease inflammation throughout the body. The exposure to extreme cold triggers the body’s natural anti-inflammatory responses, which can be beneficial for individuals dealing with chronic inflammatory conditions or recovering from injuries. Electric cryotherapy can alleviate pain by numbing irritated nerves and reducing pain signals. Many athletes and individuals with chronic pain conditions use cryotherapy to manage discomfort and enhance recovery.
- Increased Metabolism (Let’s burn calories!!)
Whole body cryotherapy has been reported to potentially burn between 500 and 800 calories during a single session. This calorie burn is attributed to thermogenesis, where the body generates heat to counteract the cold temperatures experienced during cryotherapy. However, the actual number of calories burned can differ based on individual factors like metabolic rate and body composition. It’s essential to emphasize that while cryotherapy may assist in calorie burning, it should not substitute a balanced diet and regular exercise regimen.
- Improves Sleep
Whole body cryotherapy has demonstrated potential in regulating neurotransmitters, particularly monoamine neurotransmitters, which play a crucial role in mood regulation and sleep patterns. Research indicates that cryotherapy may help promote better sleep among individuals with insomnia by influencing neurotransmitter levels in the brain.
- Hormonal Re-balancing
Impact on Stress Hormones: Regular exposure to the extreme cold of cryotherapy triggers a hormonal response in the body, which can have significant positive effects for individuals managing anxiety, mood disorders, and depression. Cryotherapy-induced hormonal changes may contribute to improved emotional well-being and stress management.
Promotion of Anti-Aging Hormones: Cryotherapy has the potential to stimulate natural hormone production, including testosterone. Increasing the body’s natural hormone levels can potentially slow down and even reverse signs of aging by supporting overall vitality and wellness.
Role of Hormonal Imbalance in Aging: Studies suggest that aging involves a shift in hormone levels, characterized by a decline in anabolic hormones such as testosterone, IGF-1, and DHEAS, while catabolic hormones like cortisol remain relatively stable. Cryotherapy may help rebalance these hormone levels, which could contribute to mitigating the effects of aging on the body.
- Accelerated Muscle Recovery
Cryotherapy promotes faster muscle recovery after intense workouts or physical activities. The cold temperatures help reduce muscle soreness and prevent delayed-onset muscle soreness (DOMS), allowing for quicker return to training.
- Improved Circulation
Cryotherapy increases blood flow and circulation as the body works to maintain core temperature. This improved circulation delivers oxygen and nutrients to tissues and helps remove metabolic waste products, supporting overall health and healing.

Whole body electric cryotherapy is a form of cryotherapy where the body is exposed to very cold temperatures, typically ranging from -110°F to -180°F), using an electrically cooled cryochamber. The treatment session usually lasts for about 2-5 minutes.
In electric cryotherapy, the cryochamber uses electrical cooling mechanisms to rapidly lower the air temperature around the body. This causes the surface temperature of the skin to drop significantly, triggering physiological reactions that can have therapeutic benefits.
Electric cryotherapy and nitrogen cryotherapy are two popular forms of cryotherapy, each offering unique characteristics:
Electric Cryotherapy: This method utilizes electricity to generate cold temperatures. It uses fresh, oxygenated cold air to target and remove unwanted abnormal body cells. During treatment, the user’s entire body is enclosed in a chamber to ensure comprehensive exposure. Electric cryotherapy machines are generally safe and eliminate the risk associated with inhaling gas.
Nitrogen Cryotherapy: Nitrogen cryotherapy relies on liquid nitrogen to create a chilling effect. It utilizes nitrogen-cold air to address unwanted abnormal cells in the body. Cryo-saunas and cryo-chambers powered by liquid nitrogen convert the liquid into a gas, which is then super-cooled and circulated within the chamber or sauna. Nitrogen-powered cryotherapy machines often reach colder temperatures compared to electric models, are more compact, and tend to be more cost-effective upfront. However, prolonged inhalation of nitrogen gas can pose safety risks
When performed correctly by trained professionals, electric cryotherapy is generally considered safe. However, it’s important to follow guidelines and protocols to minimize risks of cold-related injuries like frostbite or skin burns.
Electric cryotherapy is not suitable for everyone. Individuals with certain medical conditions such as uncontrolled hypertension, Raynaud’s syndrome, or heart conditions should avoid cryotherapy. Pregnant women and individuals with certain skin conditions may also need to avoid or modify treatment.
Electric cryotherapy is believed to offer several potential benefits, including reduced muscle soreness and inflammation, accelerated recovery from exercise or injury, improved circulation, increased metabolism, and potential pain relief.
Whole-body electric cryotherapy uses cold air utilizes dry, oxygenated air, which prevents typical reactions associated with cold exposure such as shivering or goosebumps.
